Boris Eifman was awarded the title of the Honorary Citizen of St. Petersburg, the city’s highest award! The solemn ceremony of awarding the insignia took place today at the Mariinsky Palace.

“I feel the creative energy of the city. It helps me to conduct artistic activity. I can say with confidence: without Leningrad, St. Petersburg, without its spiritual aura and cultural heritage, there would be neither me as an artist, nor the Eifman Ballet,” the choreographer said, speaking to the audience.

Congratulations to Boris Eifman on this high award!

The title of the Honorary Citizen is annually awarded by decision of the deputies of the Legislative Assembly to outstanding St. Petersburg citizens who have made a great contribution to the development of the city’s culture, science and economy. Since 1993, the title has been awarded to Dmitry Likhachov, Olga Bergholz, Natalia Dudinskaya, Zhores Alferov, Alisa Freindlich, Daniil Granin, Vladimir Putin, Valery Gergiev, Mikhail Piotrovsky, Valentina Matviyenko and other famous people whose activities and lives are inextricably linked with St. Petersburg.
