The Pygmalion Effect to become a screen ballet

From January 13 to 26 shooting of the screen version of Boris Eifman’s 2019 production The Pygmalion Effect will take place at DK Lensoveta (St. Petersburg). The choreographer to be the Production Director.
Fyodor Ordovsky, a famous cinematographer, whose rich filmography has documentaries, feature films and high-rated series, will be the Director of Photography. ARRI ALEXA cameras, which are widely applied while making Hollywood blockbusters, will be used for shooting.
The main roles in The Pygmalion Effect will be performed by the Company soloists, laureates of the Golden Mask and Golden Soffit awards, President of Russia’s Prize and the Russian Government prize: Honored Artist of Russia Oleg Gabyshev (as Leon), Lyubov Andreyeva (as Gala), Alina Petrovskaya (as Tea), Dmitry Fisher (as Holmes), Lilia Lishchuk (as Greta), Sergey Volobuev (as Coach).
The Pygmalion Effect will be Boris Eifman’s sixth screen ballet in recent years. In 2010–2017 the screen versions of the productions Anna Karenina (2010), Eugene Onegin (2010), Rodin, Her Eternal Idol (2012), Beyond Sin (2013) and Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA (2017) were created. All of them have been released on DVD. Also, the Company’s screen ballets were broadcast by the Russian national TV and by French channel Mezzo a number of times. Throughout the second half of 2019 screen ballet The Brothers Karamazov (film version of the production Beyond Sin) was shown in the cinemas of Russia, the USA, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom as part of TheatreHD and Stage Russia HD projects. The same year screen ballet Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA was entered into San Francisco Dance Film Festival, the leading modern film festival dedicated to dance.
