Eifman Ballet commences its large tour of France and the Netherlands

European tour of Eifman Ballet begins on November 9. The Company will visit the largest cities of France and the Netherlands. European dance devotees will be able to see Anna Karenina and Rodin, Her Eternal Idol, which are some of the most successful and popular productions in the Eifman Ballet’s reperory. The final performance of the tour is planned for December 7.
Audiences in Nantes, Montpellier, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Marseille, Nice and Bordeaux will be able to see the dance interpretation of Leo Tolstoy’s great novel in November. In December Anna Karenina will be performed in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The public of Lyon and the Dutch capital will also enjoy the ballet Rodin, Her Eternal Idol. This is the first time that the production about the great French sculptor will be brought to Amsterdam. It is also worth noting that the Company returns to Marseille after a long interval: Eifman Ballet’s last performance in this port city was as long ago as 1991.
The main phase of the European tour – a series of shows in Paris – will take place from November 27 to 30. The dancers will present Anna Karenina in the French capital three times. The Paris season will culminate with an exclusive performance of Rodin, Her Eternal Idol. Both productions are much admired by the audience of the “capital of the world”.
Previous large-scale tour of the St. Petersburg company in France and the Netherlands was exactly a year ago, and included many unforgettable moments of triumph of the dancers. 2018 European tour also lasted for four weeks.
Eifman Ballet will perform at well-known large venues. In the French capital it will be Palais des Congrès de Paris, which can host up to 3700 spectators. This stage saw many stars of international music (including Ray Charles, Elton John and Bob Dilan). It also hosted the famous Eurovision Song Contest. The venue in Lyon is Centre de Congrès de Lyon. Its main concert hall can seat up to 3000 people. The public of Amsterdam will be introduced to Boris Eifman’s art within the walls of the prestigious Royal Theatre Carré. All the venues are already familiar to the Company from last year’s tour.
