The Company to present modern choreographic art of Russia in Canada and the United States

On May 9, 2019 Eifman Ballet goes on an established spring tour to North America. Toronto, Chicago, Costa Mesa (Greater Los Angeles), Berkeley (Greater San Francisco) and New York City are on the schedule in May and June. The final performance will take place on June 9 on Manhattan.
The Toronto audience will see Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA. Premiered in 2016, the production set to the music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky has been met with great success in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Vienna, Monaco, Moscow, Bratislava and other cities.
Eifman Ballet brings to the U.S. its 2019 premiere – a comedy ballet The Pygmalion Effect. The production is set to the music of Johann Strauss the Son. Combining expressive means of psychological ballet theatre and ballroom dancing plastique, Boris Eifman presents the new interpretation of the myth about the sculptor who fell in love with his creation and addresses a number of philosophical, ethical and social issues. The world premiere of The Pygmalion Effect took place on February 6 in St. Petersburg.
Eifman Ballet will perform at prestigious North American venues that have already welcomed the dancers of the Company. In Toronto, it will be Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. Chicago performances will be held at the Auditorium Theatre – the second largest theatre in the United States with the capacity of 3900 people. In Costa Mesa, the audience will see the art of Boris Eifman at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, which can accommodate 3000 visitors. In New York, the Company will perform at the renowned New York City Center.
The North American tour is organized by Ardani Artists Management, a long-standing partner of Eifman Ballet which has been representing the Company in North America for more than 20 years.
“One of the key component of our creative mission is to dispel the myth of unprogressive Russian ballet. Our Company performs modern ballet repertory, which is created in St. Petersburg and presented at the top-tier venues around the world. Our art brings strong emotions and introduces the beauty of the Russian high culture,” Boris Eifman says.
