Eifman Ballet makes its debut at Lincoln Center

From April 6 to 8, 2018, Eifman Ballet tours in New York City. The Company, which celebrated the 40th anniversary in February, will perform at Lincoln Center for the first time in its history. The New York audience will see Anna Karenina, which retains a special place in the Eifman Ballet’s repertory.
During the tour, the Company will perform the ballet based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy four times (with two shows on April 7). The performances will be accompanied by the New York City Ballet Orchestra under the baton of Nikolay Alexeev, People's Artist of Russia, deputy Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia. St. Petersburg dancers will perform at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center – home to the New York City Ballet.
The first visit of the Company to New York took place exactly 20 years ago – in April 1998. “The ballet world in search of a major choreographer need search no more. He is Boris Eifman,” The New York Times wrote then. Over the two decades, Eifman Ballet has performed in the most populous city of the United States for 12 times and presented 16 premieres with flying colors (with Anna Karenina among them, danced in 2005 and 2007). The latest New York season was held in June 2017. Then, Eifman Ballet brought Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA and the revised version of Red Giselle which left the New York dance devotees and critics mesmerized.
