Plans for January – July 2018 revealed

January
January 5–7 – the tour in Beijing, China, with Beyond Sin
The company started the year 2018 with the tour in Beijing. It was held at the Tianqiao Theatre and marked the second visit of the Company to the Chinese capital during the 2017–2018 season. The Beijing audience saw Beyond Sin – the choreographic of The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky – for the first time.
February
February 5 and 6 – Anna Karenina at Alexandrinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia
February 13 – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, the gala concert in honour of the 40th anniversary of the Company, which will take place at Alexandrinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia
Eifman Ballet had been celebrating the anniversary throughout the most part of the year 2017. The celebration will reach its peak with the February concert. The program of the evening, which will present the past, the present and the future of Eifman Ballet, will include the choreographic fragments performed by the Boris Eifman Dance Academy students, the fragments from Boris Eifman’s best productions, as well as The Snowstorm ballet by Oleg Gabyshev, Eifman Ballet leading soloist. The special guests of the concert will be the dancers who worked for the Company during various periods of its history.
February 17 – the performance at VTB United League All-Star Game, Yubileyny Sports Palace, St. Petersburg, Russia
The Company will present a special program in front of the audience of the match between the Russia and world’s top-rank basketball players and will demonstrate that modern ballet and ballgame have a lot in common.
February 21–25 – the tour in Montreal, Canada, with Requiem
Eifman Ballet has not performed Requiem since the summer of 2015. In 2017, Boris Eifman enhanced the first act, dedicated to Anna Akhmatova, by adding new scenes. The premiere of this version of the production will take place at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts. The performances will be accompanied by the chorus and the orchestra of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal.
March
March 14 and 15 – the tour in Ekaterinburg, Russia, with Rodin, her Eternal Idol
March 17–24 – the tour in the Baltic States with Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA
The tour will cover Tallinn, Estonia (March 17), Riga, Latvia (March 19 and 20), Vilnius, Lithuania (March 22) and Kaliningrad, Russia (March 24). The audiences of all above-mentioned cities will see Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA for the first time.
April
April 6–8 – Anna Karenina in New York, NY, USA
Eifman Ballet will make its debut at famous Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (the dancers will perform at the stage of the David H. Koch Theater). The performances of the ballet based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy will be accompanied by the New York City Ballet Orchestra.
April 23 and 24 – Eugene Onegin and Beyond Sin at Alexandrinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia
May
May 8 and 9 – Eugene Onegin at the International Lake Constance Festival (Bodenseefestival), Germany
The performances will be accompanied by the orchestra.
May 16 and 17 – the tour in Kazan, Russia, with Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA
As with 2016, the Company will participate in the International Festival of Classic Ballet named after Rudolf Nureyev.
May 21-23 – Red Giselle and Rodin, her Eternal Idol at Alexandrinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia
Red Giselle will be performed twice: on May 21 and 22. On May 23, the audience will see the production about the French sculptor.
June
June 2 – Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA in Monte Carlo, Monaco
Jube 12–16 – the tour in Berlin, Germany, with Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA and Red Giselle
June 23–30 – the tour in the Danube capitals with Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA (Vienna, Bratislava, Belgrade)
July
July 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 16 – performances at Alexandrinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia (Anna Karenina, Red Giselle, Rodin, her Eternal Idol, Russian Hamlet, Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA)
The 2017–2018 season’s closing performances in St. Petersburg. On July 4 and 5, Anna Karenina will be performed, on July 7 – Red Giselle, on July 8 and 9 dance devotees will see Rodin, her Eternal Idol, while on July 11 – the 2017 revised version of Russian Hamlet. And, on July 15 and 16, the Company will perform Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA.
The second half of July – shooting screen ballet Russian Hamlet in St. Petersburg
The performance about Prince Paul is going to be Boris Eifman’s sixth filmed production over the last eight years. In 2010–2017, screen versions of the ballets Anna Karenina, Eugene Onegin, Rodin, her Eternal Idol, Beyond Sin and Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA were produced.
