Boris Eifman received Baltic Star award

The XIV awards ceremony of the Baltic Star, an international prize for development and consolidation of humanitarian relations in countries of the Baltic region, took place today at The Hermitage Theatre. Boris Eifman was named its laureate.

Baltic Star award was established in 2004. It rewards deserts of culture and art workers, representatives of artistic intelligentsia, official and business circles in development of culture relations between the countries of the Baltic region, in strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the nations, in widening humanitarian cooperation.

Among the Baltic Star winners from previous years are Valery Gergiev, Yuri Temirkanov, Lev Dodin, Valery Fokin, Mikhail Piotrovsky, Oleg Basilashvili, Andrei Konchalovsky, Andrzej Waida, John Neumeier and other prominent representatives of the sphere of culture. This year film and stage actor Regimantas Adomaitis, theatre director Luk Perceval and Eduard Kochergin, chief designer of Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater, received this award together with Boris Eifman. In the “In Memoriam” category the award went posthumously to Anton Gubankov who was the Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee for Culture from 2008 to 2011.
