From July 16 to 31, Eifman Ballet will tour at the Bolshoi Theatre Historic Stage celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Company. For the first time in its recent history Eifman Ballet will be performing at the invitation of the Bolshoi Theatre at the major venue of the country for two weeks. Nearly entire current repertory of the Company will be presented to the capital spectators.

The season will start with the Moscow premiere of the new choreographic version of Russian Hamlet on 16 and 17 July that will be the part of the International Chereshnevy Les Open-Art Festival. The production, dedicated to Prince Paul, future Emperor Paul I of Russia, will become the sixth ballet by Boris Eifman that will be premiered in Moscow in cooperation with the festival.

It is worth noticing that the Bolshoi Theatre played a pivotal role in the long history of Russian Hamlet. It's the Bolshoi where the Russian premiere of the production was held in 2000. The ballet created by Eifman a year before was danced by the Bolshoi Ballet.

The Moscow audience will also have the chance to see Eugene Onegin (19 and 20 July), Rodin, Her Eternal Idol (22 and 23 July), Beyond Sin (25 and 26 July), Up & Down (28 and 29 July), and last but not least – Anna Karenina (30 and 31 July). The ballet about French sculptor Auguste Rodin will be performed twice on 22 July, as well as Up & Down on 29 July.

“In the year of the Company's 40th anniversary, we present our six renowned productions in Moscow. These ballets are the quintessence of our long-lasting creative search aimed at discovering new possibilities of psychological ballet theatre. I hope that Eifman Ballet Moscow performances will become a remarkable event for dance lovers. I am truly grateful to the management of the Bolshoi Theatre for its invitation,” Boris Eifman says.

The performances in Moscow will mark the end of the 40th season of Eifman Ballet, while the celebration will continue in the autumn.
