Eifman Ballet sets out for the long North American tour

On May 11 the tour of Eifman Ballet in Canada and the United States will commence. It will last until June 25 and will be one of the key events of the ongoing 40th anniversary season of the Company. In May Eifman Ballet plans to visit Toronto, Minneapolis, Chicago and Boston. In June – New York, Costa Mesa and Los Angeles.
Toronto audience will see the ballet Red Giselle for the first time. It should be noted that in the year of its 40th anniversary Eifman Ballet will present in North America a new choreographic version of this legendary performance by Boris Eifman, reflecting the process of the Company's long creative and professional evolution.
Eifman Ballet will also perform Red Giselle in Minneapolis, Chicago, New York and Costa Mesa. The first version of the production, created in the late 1990s, was enthusiastically received by the audience and ballet critics of the United States. “A ballet world in search of a major choreographer need search no more. He is Boris Eifman,” wrote Anna Kisselgoff from The New York Times after the US premiere of Red Giselle that was held during the Company’s New York debut.
The program of the tour will also include the ballet Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA, staged in the previous season, which is the result of the choreographer’s years-long contemplation of the great composer’s personality and creative world. The ballet will be shown in Boston, New York and Los Angeles.
The performances of the tour will be hosted at prestigious venues of Canada and the United States. Among the famous stages that will see the St. Petersburg dancers are Auditorium Theatre (Chicago), New York City Center, Segerstrom Center for the Arts (Costa Mesa), and The Music Center (Los Angeles). These venues have repeatedly witnessed the triumph of the modern Russian ballet art created by the Company. Ardani Artists is traditionally the promoter of the North American tour.
“This year Eifman Ballet is celebrating its 40th anniversary. And in 2018 it will be exactly 20 years since the first big tour of our company in the United States. In the year of one anniversary and on the eve of another we will present in North America the original and successful choreographic repertory of modern Russia. We will try to prove again to Western audience that the Russian ballet is not only the masterpieces of Petipa,” says Boris Eifman.
OJSC ALROSA is the General Partner of the Eifman Ballet’s North American tour.
