From November 6 to 30, Eifman Ballet will tour China. The Company will perform in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an and, for the first time in its history, Jinan. The tour playbill, timed to coincide with the 2024-2025 Years of Russia and China Culture, will include the internationally acclaimed productions Anna Karenina and Russian Hamlet.

The choreographic interpretation of the great novel by Leo Tolstoy is well known to local audiences and, according to Boris Eifman, has already gained no less popularity among them than the classical masterpiece Swan Lake. The Company will present the historical ballet blockbuster Russian Hamlet, dedicated to the dramatic fate of Prince Paul, the future Russian Emperor Paul I, in China for the first time.

The most prestigious venues of the country will become the meeting place of the Company with the Chinese audience. Thus, the Beijing series of performances will take place at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. This largest theatrical complex in Asia has repeatedly witnessed the triumph of Eifman Ballet. In Shanghai, the grandiose Oriental Art Center will host the dancers, and in Xi'an the shows will be held at the Shaanxi Grand Theatre. The Company will give its debut performances in Jinan at the Shandong Grand Theater.

Over the past few years, Eifman Ballet has regularly and successfully toured China, strengthening its status as one of the leaders of Russian cultural diplomacy. “For many years, Chinese audiences knew only the Russian classical choreographic repertoire. We have opened up our country’s modern ballet to them. We are sincerely proud of the opportunity to present high Russian art to the world,” Eifman notes.

The general partner of the Eifman Ballet’s tour in China is VTB Bank.
