The choreographer’s anniversary on the St. Petersburg stage

Autumn is the time to celebrate Boris Eifman’s anniversary among St. Petersburg dance connoisseurs.
On September 24 and 25, the Alexandrinsky Theatre will host the Сompany’s grand gala evenings, dedicated to the choreographer’s 80th birthday. For the first time in recent years, the dancers will perform before a hometown audience in a concert format, a truly beloved event among admirers of Russian modern ballet art. The thoughtful dramaturgy of the celebratory program will reveal the long-standing creative development of Eifman Ballet and, of course, the essence of the evolution of the Company’s artistic leader, the creator of an internationally sought-after repertoire and one of the leading figures in Russian culture.
Spectators will see striking excerpts from the renowned choreographic psychodramas that form Eifman Ballet’s current repertoire, as well as specially restored and reworked fragments from legendary productions from the 1970s and 1980s, long since retired from the stage but forever remaining an important part of the history of the formation of Russian psychological ballet.
