Into the new season with large-scale plans

The 50th season of Eifman Ballet is a time of remarkable creative achievements.

Today, the gathering was held at the rehearsal base. Boris Eifman introduced the new members of the Company, congratulated the soloists of the premiere cast of the production Crime and Punishment, which was named the laureate of the Golden Mask Russian National Theatre Award, and outlined the plans for the upcoming year. We’ve captured the highlights for you.

• In the first half of September, audiences in Svetlogorsk and Minsk will experience Russian modern choreographic art. At the end of the month, the Company will celebrate the choreographer’s anniversary with gala concerts in St. Petersburg.

• In October, Eifman Ballet will visit Thailand (as part of the international project Russian Seasons) and Vietnam, and in November, Turkey. The dancers will perform in Istanbul and, for the first time, in Ankara.

• December will be marked by a tour in China. Eifman Ballet will hold a nearly three-week series of performances in Beijing and Shanghai, the largest cultural centers of the Celestial Empire.

• In the new season, it’s planned to revive the ballets Up & Down and Tchaikovsky. PRO et CONTRA. These productions will return to the stage in an refined form.

• Work continues on an epic ballet about one of Russia’s most prominent historical figures.

• Seventeen young dancers have joined the Company. They are graduates of the Boris Eifman Dance Academy, the Vaganova Ballet Academy, the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, and other leading schools.

Eifman specifically noted that within a year, in September 2027, the dancers will enter the Dance Palace. Having the own stage will radically change Eifman Ballet’s repertoire policy: the number of performances in the home city will increase significantly, and classical productions will be added to the repertoire. “The recent tour in Moscow demonstrated the Сompany’s supreme mastery, professionalism, and responsibility. We will continue to work in this direction,” the choreographer emphasized.
